Local Cities and towns

Gaillac (12kms south), situated on the river Tarn, is an old market town with an impressive Abbey and many other historical buildings. Gaillac’s colourful markets, along with its many shops and restaurants, make it a much-loved and visited town by tourists and locals alike. Its annual Wine Festival during August is always very popular. Gaillac has been an important wine-producing area since the 10th-Century.

The many fields of vines make a variety of wines: red, white, sparkling and rosé. To discover more about the local wines, we recommend that guests visit nearby vineyards and sample as many as possible!

Albi (30kms) is a vibrant city dominated by a massive pink brick, gothic cathedral. Also in the cathedral square is a museum dedicated to Toulouse Lautrec, which houses the largest collection of his works in the world. Shops, restaurants, the river and numerous old buildings of interest make Albi a great day out for everyone.

Toulouse, the ancient regional capital, continues to be a dynamic and vibrant city. Only an hour’s drive away - and less than an hour away from Gaillac by train - this city has enough to warrant a separate holiday !

Toulouse is a place of culture, gastronomy, fine architecture and retail therapy - very beautiful, very chic and very French!
